The Lion King received a royal welcome in its second theatrical release, Box Office Mojo reports.

The 3-D version of the 1994 hit animated film grossed an estimated $29.3 million in its first weekend of re-release to land at No. 1. The family-friendly flick — which now has raked in $357.8 million all told — was followed by last week's top film, Contagion, which took in $14.4 million.

The Ryan Gosling-starring action film, Drive, parked at third place with $11.01 million in its opening weekend. The Help came in at No. 4 with $6.4 million (bringing its cumulative total to $147.4 million).

The two other new releases, the Straw Dogsremake and I Don't Know How She Does It, grabbed fifth and sixth place with $5 million and $4.5 million, respectively

Rounding out the top 10: The Debt(No. 7, $2.9 million), Warrior (No. 8, $2.7 million), Rise of the Planet of the Apes (No. 9, $2.6 million, for a total so far of $171.6 million) and Colombiana (No. 10, $2.3 million).
