Laura Benanti Is Headed to Nashville

Another up-and-comer has booked a trip to Nashville, but will she be friend or foe to country queen Rayna James?

Actress and Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti will swing by the ABC drama for a multi-episode arc, "="" www.deadline.com="" 07="" laura-benanti-joins-abcs-nashville-benjamin-ciaramello-in-secrets-lies="" rel="nofollow">Deadlinereports. Benanti will play Sadie Stone (great country-music name), a rising star in the music scene who becomes pals with Rayna (Connie Britton). But if the show's track record is any indication, it won't be long before the claws come out.

Benanti is no stranger to showcasing her singing talents on television; last year, she co-starred as Elsa Schrader in NBC's The Sound of Music Live.

The actress has also appeared on Nurse Jackie, Law & Order: SVU, and the canceled NBC series Go On andThe Playboy Club.

Season 3 of Nashville premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 10/9c on ABC.
