Excuse the pun, but that was so fast!
It seems like just yesterday we found out Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) would be leaving The Flash to become a permanent passenger on the Waverider on DC's Legends of Tomorrow. It was actually a few months ago, but the point still stands.
After only a handful of episodes in the back half of DC's Legends of Tomorrow's third season, TVLine reports Lonsdale will be exiting the show as a series regular. Wally did return to The Flash for the Season 4 finale (to attend a baby shower for his new baby sister), where he told Joe (Jesse L. Martin) that he'd learned how to be comfortable just being himself and was no longer worried about forever living in Barry's (Grant Gustin) shadow.
That seems like a perfect way to re-integrate Wally into The Flash (though it's still super weird that his big move to Legends was so short-lived). Unfortunately, while TVLine reports Lonsdale will star in The Flash Season 5 premiere, there's been no word on how permanent that visit will be. It's possible this may be it for Lonsdale's series regular roles in the Arrowverse.
Lonsdale took to Twitter to explain the exit. "I've changed a lot in the past year (as you've probably noticed lol), and for infinite reasons my perspective on life and what I want from it now is just completely different," he wrote. "Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path."
He also wrote, "It's definitely not a total goodbye or 'see ya never' situation. Wally West will still be around when you need him most."
