Scott Pelley to replace Katie Couric on CBS Evening News
The anchor, whose contract expires June 4, announced her exit date on Friday's broadcast, adding that she will look back at "some of the amazing stories we've covered over the past five years" on her last day.Couric's successor, 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley, starts June 6. Couric, who was the first female solo anchor of a nightly news broadcast, has not announced her future plans, but she's widely expected to move to ABC to launch a syndicated daytime talk show in fall 2012.
