Jon and Kate Celebrate 4th of July Together

Two weeks after announcing their split, Jon and Kate Gosselin came together to celebrate Independence Day with their eight children.
Spending the day at their Wernersville, Pa., home, the Gosselin brood played volleyball and picked blueberries for Kate's July 4 cake, while Jon set off sparklers, People reports.

It was the clan's first holiday since Kate filed for divorce on June 22, the same day the couple announced their separation on their series Jon & Kate Plus 8. The July 4 get-together was planned in advance, as the pair agreed to put aside their differences for their children — just as they said they would do when they announced their split on the show.

"Jon pointed to the July 4 holiday and said, 'What are we going to do about that?'" Kate told People. "I absolutely cannot imagine not spending every single holiday with my kids. I don't care what it takes. I will be there."

Jon & Kate Plus 8 is on hiatus. TLC halted production to allow the family time to "regroup." The series is scheduled to return Aug. 3.
