Torchwood's John Barrowman Joins the Cast of Arrow

John Barrowman, who played Captain Jack Harkness on Torchwood, is joining the cast of The CW's action series Arrow, based on the Green Arrow comics, TV Guide has confirmed.

The former Dr. Who star will have a recurring role in the show's first season, but producers are keeping details of his character under wraps. He'll be a wealthy, well-dressed mystery man who is "an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City," according to Entertainment Weekly, which was the first to report the news.

Earlier this year, Barrowman was cast in Shonda Rhimes' period drama Gilded Lilys, which failed to garner a pickup at ABC.

Arrow premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 8/9c.
