If you were worried that Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards were going to be a Jersey Shore-free situation, rest assured that the cast left for Los Angeles on Saturday morning.

Us Weekly reports that MTV flew the cast out early out of fear that Hurricane Irene would keep them away from the network's big tentpole event.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Vinny Guadagnino, Deena Cortese and Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola boarded a private jet in Teterboro, N.J. Meanwhile, "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio was set to fly in from Oklahoma City, Jenni "JWoww" Farley is hitting Los Angeles by way of Las Vegas and Ronnie Magro is coming from Rhode Island. It's unclear how or if  Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino will be making his way to Los Angeles.
