X-Men's James Marsden has joined the cast of HBO's pilot Westworld, Entertainment Weekly reports. The J.J. Abrams and Jerry Weintraub sci-fi drama is based on Michael Crichton's 1973 novel and set in a futuristic theme park where androids fulfill human desires.

The J.J. Abrams and Jerry Weintraub sci-fi drama is based on Michael Crichton's 1973 novel and set in a futuristic theme park where androids fulfill human desires. Marsden will play Teddy Flood, a mysterious stranger who proves his charm and skill with a revolver shortly after arriving to the small town. Teddy's "pursuit of a local beauty launches him on a dark odyssey."

Marsden joins a cast that already includes Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Kyle Bornheimer, Jeffrey Wright and Shannon Woodward.
In addition to X-Men, Marsden's credits include Lee Daniels' The Butler, Anchorman 2 and 30 Rock.
