Vampires really are all the rage these days.
IFC and Lionsgate will adapt the popular Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter book series into a TV movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The flick will mark the first theatrical-length production for the cable channel.
Written by Laurell K. Hamilton, the books chronicle the adventures of the titular character, a police consultant by day and vampire hunter by night who falls in love with a vampire. To date, there are 16 books in the series.
"Laurell has created a fascinating heroine in Anita Blake, and we quickly recognized the onscreen potential for this vivid character," said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate president of TV programming and production.
The film is scheduled to hit TV sets next year.
