Hunger Games Casts Newcomer in Prim Role

Newcomer Willow Shields will play Primrose Everdeen in the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games, Deadline reports.

Primrose, the younger sister of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), is originally selected to take part in the Hunger Games. However, knowing her sweet and delicate sister can't handle the competition, Katniss takes her place.

Shields' casting comes a day after Jack Quaid (the son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan) and Leven Rambin (Scoundrels) were added to the film. Quaid and Rambin will play Marvel and Glimmer, respectively.

The Hunger Games film, to be directed by Gary Ross, will hit theaters on March 23, 2012.
