Homeland, Modern Familyand Breaking Bad won big at Sunday's Writers Guild Awards, as each series took home two awards.
Breaking Bad was honored for drama series, while the Season 4 opener, "Box Cutter," tied in the best dramatic episode category with "The Good Soldier" from Showtime's Homeland, which also won the award for new series. Modern Family won comedy series, with the episode "Caught in the Act" winning for best episodic comedy.
HBO also fared well with the screenplays for Cinema Veriteand Too Big to Failwinning for long form original and adapted, respectively.
The Colbert Report to return Monday after sudden hiatus
The Colbert Reportwon for best comedy/variety series, while After the Academy Awards won in the comedy/variety specials category. Among the other TV winners were The Simpsons(animation) and General Hospital(daytime drama).
On the film side, Woody Allen's Midnight in Pariswon for original screenplay, while Alexander Payne's The Descendantstook home the award for adapted screenplay.
