HBO Is Getting Into Bed With Whitney Cummings for a Show Based on a Maureen Dowd Book

Do you enjoy the comedic stylings of Whitney Cummings? Did you like Whitney? If you answered yes, then the rest of this news story will probably delight you.

According to Deadline, HBO has ordered a half-hour comedy pilot from the comedienne, and sounds not totally unlike Whitney, but on pay cable.

Inspired by New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd's 2005 book Are Men Necessary? When Sexes Collide, the untitled project was written by and will star Cummings.

Described as a "comedic portrait of modern relationships," the potential series will also incorporate "documentary elements and appearances from experts to help the characters understand the biological basis of their behavior."

Additionally, HBO will team with Cummings for a new stand-up comedy special that will film in the fall and air on the cable network in 2016.
