Will Kevin Spacey's The Crux be HBO's Next Cult Hit?

HBO is finalizing a deal to develop The Crux, a drama series project starring Kevin Spacey, network reps confirm.

According to Variety, Spacey, 51, will play a charismatic cult leader. Little else is known about the project.

Spacey will executive produce via his Trigger Street Prods. alongside partner Dana Brunetti. Rod Lurie and Marc Frydman will write the script and also executive produce. If picked up to pilot, Lurie is set to direct.

The Oscar-winning actor last partnered with HBO on the Emmy-winning 2008 TV movie, Recount.
