Which Traditionally Male Role in Hannibal Will Be Played by a Woman?

Another name has been added to the cast of NBC's upcoming Silence of the Lambs drama, Hannibal — but there's a twist. The show has tapped Camelot actress Lara Jean Chorostecki to play tabloid reporter Freddie Lounds, a traditionally male role, played in previous film versions by Philip Seymour Hoffman (Red Dragon) and Stephen Lang (Manhunter) — as "Freddy Lounds," TVLine reports.

Hannibal casts its leading lady

Rounding out the main cast are Hugh Dancy as FBI agent Will Graham, Mads Mikkelsen as the titular cannibal, Caroline Dhavernas as Hannibal's protégé, and Laurence Fishburne as Will's boss, Jack Crawford.

Hannibal will premiere midseason on NBC.
