Douglas, 16, will make a cameo on the seventh episode this season. "I was so excited!" the gymnast told TVGuide.com on the set Wednesday, about when she learned she'd appear on the show. (Be sure to check back for our video interview in which Gabby reveals whether she's Team Damon or Team Stefan.)

And while we won't reveal details about Douglas' role, we do know that one of the cast members didn't waste time before biting on her ... medal.  "Eating @gabrielledoug 's Gold medal! Yummmmmmm," star Ian Somerhalder tweeted along with this photo.

Last month, the cast of The CW series made a video wishing the Olympian luck. Douglas went on to win two gold medals at the London Olympics.

The Vampire Diaries returns for its fourth season on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 8/7c on The CW.
