Amidst the bloodbath of cancellations at Fox, there's good news for one series: Seth Gabel has been promoted to series regular on Fringe going into its fourth season, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Fox cancels Human Target, Lie to Me and Chicago Code

The 29-year-old actor has recurred as Fringe Division boss Lincoln "Linc" Lee from the other universe since last season. The recent Season 3 finale on May 6 left the door open, literally, to upping Gabel's role when Peter (Joshua Jackson) created a gateway that bridges the two universes. Our universe already has its own Linc, though, who we saw once in a March episode working behind a desk at the FBI.

Gabel previously starred on ABC's Dirty Sexy Money and has appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and United States of Tara.

Fringe finale: Guess who never existed?

The news comes on the heels of Fox canceling five bubble series -- Human Target, Lie to Me, The Chicago Code, Breaking In and Traffic Light— to make room for new comediesI Hate My Teenage Daughterand The New Girl and dramas Finder and Alcatraz.

TVLine.com first reported the news of Gabel's promotion.
