Elizabeth Banks is keeping the '90s alive
Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks has signed on to play the villain Rita Repulsa in the upcoming Power Rangers, the movie's official Instagram announced Tuesday.
Banks joins Power Rangers Becky G, R.J. Cyler, Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin and Naomi Scott in the reboot of the '90s kids' action show, which is scheduled for a March 2017 release.
Rita Repulsa, who was portrayed by late Japanese actress Machiko Soga on the show, is an alien witch who's a foe of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Her look is somewhat reminiscent of Effie Trinket, the character Banks played in the Hunger Games movies.
Do you think she's Repulsa enough to carry Soga's staff?
