Dick Wolf Says a Fourth Chicago Show Could Be Coming Soon

Unfortunately, it's not Chicago Pizza

The "C" in NBC might as well stand for Chicago.

A fourth installment in the Chicago franchise, Chicago Law, could be in the works, Dick Wolf said at Wednesday's Television Critics Association winter previews.

"Gee, I'd hate to do that," Wolf deadpanned at first. "You will see certain things. ... It would probably be in the legal system. You may see the same way you saw the last three years, some people doing legal things that would give an insight into where that could go. Would I like to do it? Of course. ... This is literally a dream come true. To have these three shows operating this synergistically is beyond my expectations."

The mega-producer said it would be "short-sighted" not to consider another offshoot, especially after the successful three-way crossover between Chicago Fire, P.D. and Med last week. Earlier in the day, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke told Variety that there had been discussions about introducing the potential Law characters on P.D. Wolf -- who of course is no stranger to the legal system, having created the Law & Order franchise -- reiterated that the project is in the nascent stages.

"My instinct is always to double-down, but there are many masters to serve," he said. "In the abstract, sure, that would be great. The specifics, it's a question of how that would operate and what the form would be, but there have been discussions."
