Daredevil: Why the Punisher Is the Perfect Antagonist for Season 2

Vincent D'Onofrio's riveting performance as Wilson Fisk on Daredevil is a tough act to follow, which might be why the show pulled out the big guns for the second season, introducing the beloved antihero Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), a brutal vigilante with a vendetta and loose moral code.

"The best part about Frank Castle in our world is it makes Matt Murdock look at himself and go, 'What's the difference between me and this guy?'" explains co-showrunner Doug Petrie.

"[Matt] has to reexamine who he is and what he does and whether he's actually ultimately being of help to the city and to the public, or whether what he's doing is detrimental because of the likes of people like Frank Castle," adds Charlie Cox.
