CW Orders Full Season of Vampire Diaries, More Melrose Place

The CW has picked up nine more episodes of The Vampire Diaries, for a total of 22.

The show, executive-produced by Dawson's Creek's Kevin Williamson, has been the CW's breakout hit, premiering Sept. 10 with 4.8 million viewers, the network's highest-rated series debut ever.

The Oct. 15 episode held strong with 3.9 million viewers, so the pickup was expected.

Despite Melrose Place's lagging ratings, the network also announced an additional five episodes, which brings its total order to 18 episodes.
