American comedian Charlie Callas has died, according to The Associated Press. He was 83.
Callas died at a hospice in Las Vegas on Thursday. The cause of death was not given.

A Brooklyn, N.Y., native, Callas served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II before becoming a comedian. He's best known for his work with Mel Brooks, appearing in Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World, Part 1and Dracula: Dead and Loving It.
Callas was also a frequent guest on several variety shows, often appearing on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show until 1982, when Callas was banned after shoving the host off his chair while trying to get laughs.
Callas is survived by his two sons, Mark and Larry Callas.
