See what people like Beyonce, MC Hammer, and Jada Pinkett Smith had to say
In the past week, celebs have been speaking out in interviews and on social media about the protests in Baltimore.
On Friday, Freddie Gray's death was officially ruled a homicide. Starting at his funeral this week, protesters came out in the thousands to protest the alleged police brutality that lead to his death.

On Instagram, Ice Cube also drew a comparison between the generations of protesters in the city:
But not all celebrities were supportive of the protesters. In a now-deleted tweet, Carson Daly wrote, "Really sucks to see these lawless looters ruining the great city of @Baltimore. This isn't protest, this is a violent attack on your OWN city."
Of course, the Internet is forever, and people got screenshots of the tweet before he removed it.

Judah Friedlander (of 30 Rock fame) called the protests "riots" and criticized the police and the president for not doing more to stop it.
looting in baltimore non-stop for an hour. are the police even trying to stop it? doesn't look like it. #BaltimoreRiots
The president should be in Baltimore right now. Bring peace to neighborhood. Lead. #baltimoreriots
Violence while it can be understandbale, isn't the answer. But the government doing nothing to bring safety is a disgrace. #BaltimoreRiots
Other celebs were a bit more balanced, asking protesters to end the violence while still demanding justice for Freddie Gray.
Jada Pinkett Smith put an impassioned plea on Facebook.
Baltimore!I know we are angry, I know we want to be heard. We want answers, we want justice but most of all we want...

Cedric the Entertainer conceded that change was necessary, but said the protests weren't the right way to do it.
Hate to see Baltimore going thru what my hometown of Ferguson went thru. Change is necessary, but violence and destruction is not the answer
Rapper Freddie Gibbs urged people to stay safe.
#Baltimore stay strong. I feel how u feel. I lost one of my best friends to police brutality in 2006.
Baltimore I respect it, 100%. Just do it peacefully, we don't need an excuse for them to kill another one of us. #FreddyGray
And many, many people just offered their prayers and thoughts for the city.
Sending my prayers out to the people in Baltimore.
Just came out of meditation + focused all of my energy towards letting the right path be illuminated for the city of Baltimore.
Prayers for Baltimore...
