CBS is developing a medical soap inspired by the characters and themes from The Wizard of Oz, Deadline reports.

The drama, entitled Dorothy, will be executive-produced by Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman, who similarly reimagined Sherlock Holmes for the CBS procedural Elementary. Ghost Whisperer's Emily Fox will write the script and also executive-produce.Syfy is also developing a miniseries based on Frank L. Baum's 1900 novel. Warriors of Oz features a male protagonist who travels to post-apocalyptic Oz where he'll join forces with three warriors, Heartless, Brainless and Coward, to defeat the Wizard.(Full disclosure: TVGuide.com is owned by CBS.)
