CBS Not Moving Forward with Quean Pilot

CBS is no longer moving forward with the drama pilot Quean.

Pilot Season: CBS picks up three drama pilots, including one from The L Word creator
The project, which was to be produced by Warner Bros. TV, has been halted due to ongoing legal pressure from Sony Pictures, according to Deadline, which first reported the news. Sony alleges the pilot is too similar to  The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which the company released last year with plans to further adapt the bestselling trilogy of novels into films.

Quean, written by The L Wordcreator Ilene Chaiken,follows an edgy and independent female hacker who teams up with an Oakland police detective to solve crimes. According to Deadline, Chaiken rewrote the pilot after Sony initially voiced concerns, but the company still threatened legal action as long as the lead character was a hacker.

Warner Bros. opted to shut down the project on the advice of its legal team.
