CBS Cancels Seven Series, Including Ghost Whisperer, Numb3rs and Cold Case

CBS has canceled seven series, including the veteran procedurals Ghost Whisperer,Numb3rs and Cold Case, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Also axed are freshmen series Accidentally on Purpose and Miami Medical, and perennial bubble shows The New Adventures of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried, the Reporter says. The network has, however, renewed Rules of Engagement and Medium, which it picked up from NBC last year, according to the trade paper.

CBS has declined to comment.Numb3rs and Cold Case were not expected to return, but Ghost Whisperer was tipped for a sixth-season renewal as it consistently won its Fridays-at-8 timeslot.

The Wednesday comedy block of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried was also a modest performer for the network, but both shows have flirted with cancellation before. In the past, ABC has expressed interest in picking up Old Christine should CBS axe it.Accidentally on Purpose posted solid numbers as part of CBS' hit Monday comedy lineup, but its ratings dropped significantly when it moved to Wednesdays in March.

Miami Medical premiered in April, taking over Numb3rs' Fridays-at-10 spot, where it eroded viewers every week. Friday's episode drew 5.93 million viewers. Numb3rs averaged around 8 million in the same spot this season.Are you sad to see these shows go?
