Temperatures may cool down and leaves may fall, but some things never change, like the enduring popularity of any TV show created by Taylor Sheridan or based on the novels of Michael Connelly. Paramount+ kicked off the month of October by renewing Sheridan's spy series Lioness, which stars Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman, for a third season. Not to be outdone, Prime Video renewed the Bosch spin-off Ballard, which stars Maggie Q, for Season 2. In other news, FX's Adults is ready for a new season of adulting, Hulu has renewed King of the Hill and Only Murders in the Building, and USA Network's The Rainmaker is suiting up for another season.
Other shows weren't so lucky. Showtime's Yellowjackets was the biggest show to announce its end in October; the upcoming fourth season is set to be its last. Prime Video canceled a pair of freshman dramas, Countdown and Butterfly. Fox's The Great North was canceled after five seasons. Starz's BMF was canceled after four seasons. And Showtime's The Chi is ending after its upcoming eighth season, which premieres sometime next year.
