Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! topped the weekend box office with $45.1 million in ticket sales, making it the the best premiere so far this year, the fifth-largest G-rated debut ever, and the fourth-best opening of Jim Carrey's career (and thus, I suppose, worth that sad American Idol pimpage). Last week's champ, 10,000 BC, placed second with $16.4 mil.Rounding out the top five were Never Back Down (opening with $8.6 million), College Road Trip ($7.9 mil) and Vantage Point ($5.4 mil).
