Box Office: Hobbit, Unbroken Rule, But How Did The Interview Do?

See what landed in the Top 10 over Christmas weekend

Angelina Jolie's Unbroken had an impressive debut at the box office over Christmas weekend, taking in $31.7 million ($47.3 million including Christmas Day receipts), Box Office Mojo reports. But that still wasn't enough to topple The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which came in at No. 1 for the second week in a row with $41.4 million.

The best movies of 2014

Movie-musical Into the Woods fell just short of Unbroken,opening in third place with $31 million. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomband Annie each dropped two spots, to Nos. 4 and 5 with $20.6 million and $16.6 million, respectively.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1 also slipped, falling to No. 6 with $10 million in its sixth week in theaters. The Gambler opened in seventh place with $9.3 million.

After opening wide, The Imitation Game pulled into the Top 10, landing at No. 8 with $7.9 million. Rounding out the Top 10 were Exodus: Gods and Kings (No. 9, $6.7 million) and Wild (No. 10, $5.4 million).

The Interview, which opened in select theaters and online, finished at No. 16 with $1.8 million for a total of $2.8 million since Christmas Day. The film, however, has made $15 million in downloads, according toThe Hollywood Reporter, after being released Wednesday on YouTube, Google Play, XBox and Sony's dedicated website. On Sunday, the controversial comedy also began streaming on iTunes.
