Bill Nighy is close to signing on for the remake of 1990's Total Recall, The Hollywood Reportersays. He would take on the role of Quatto, whose counterpart in the original film hosted a parasitic twin that led the mutant resistance.
Nighy would join star Colin Farrell (taking over for Arnold Schwarzenegger), as well as previously announced cast members Bryan Cranston, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. Ethan Hawke is set to make a cameo.

The futuristic film reportedly will not be set on Mars, as the original was, but in conglomerations called Euromerica and New Shanghai. Like the original, though, Farrell's character, Douglas Quaid, will be marked by confusion as to whether he's a spy and, if so, which side he's on.
The Len Wiseman-directed action movie is set to start filming in June in Toronto.
