We've been waiting almost two years for more Big Little Lies, but there's some relief coming for fans. HBO announced on Friday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that the show will return this June for Season 2.

The second season picks up after the events of the jaw-dropping first season, when "The Monterey Five" — Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), Celeste (Nicole Kidman), Jane (Shailene Woodley), Renata (Laura Dern) and Bonnie (Zoë Kravitz) — teamed up together after Bonnie killed Celeste's abusive husband Perry (Alexander Skarsgard). For Season 2, the show has recruited Meryl Streep as Perry's mother, Mary. This season will once again be seven episodes long.

Season 1 of Big Little Lies was based on Liane Moriarty's best-selling novel of the same name. After the success of the first outing, Moriarty teamed up with series writer David E. Kelley to come up with the story for Season 2. Andrea Arnold will direct the entire second season, taking over for Sharp Objects' Jean-Marc Vallée.

Big Little Lies Season 2 premieres in June on HBO.
