Anthony Bourdain: Paula Deen Scandal "Gives Me No Pleasure"

Anthony Bourdain and Paula Deen have been known to get into some very heated public arguments, Bourdain says he's not getting a kick out of Deen's recent troubles.

"It gives me no pleasure at all," Bourdain told the Orlando Sentinel. "It ain't pretty, either the charges or the reaction. I may have been an adversary or a critic of Miss Deen. It gives me no pleasure to see her torn apart by the people who were kissing her a-- a week before."

During a deposition for a racial discrimination suit filed against Deen by one of her former employees, Deen admitted to having used racial slurs in the work place. After the deposition was leaked to the public, she was dropped by Food Network, and several other companies, including Target, Walmart and Home Depot, severed all ties. Deen tried to undo the damage by making a bizarre appearance on the Today show, in which she told Matt Lauer that she didn't know if the N-word was offensive. Not long after, she dropped her legal team and agent and hired a Washington D.C. crisis firm. The racial discrimination suit has since been dismissed.

Deen and Bourdain are well-known for their spats, such as when Bourdain called her the "most, most dangerous person to America" in 2011 because of her unhealthy recipes. Deen later told Bourdain to "get a life." A year later, Bourdain spoke out against Deen when she revealed that she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. "When your signature dish is hamburger in between a doughnut, and you've been cheerfully selling this stuff knowing all along that you've got Type 2 diabetes ... it's in bad taste if nothing else," he told Eater at the time.
