Amazon has ordered a second season of its original series Transparent, the company announced Thursday.

According to Amazon, the show has broken its Prime Instant Video viewing record and is the most binge-watched TV series on Prime Instant Video with nearly 80 percent of all viewers binging on two or more episodes of the series in the same day.

Transparent's Jeffrey Tambor on becoming Maura Pfefferman: "She was very real to me"

"We are absolutely thrilled that the response to Transparent has been so positive," Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. "Our goal is to create series that customers love, so it's great to hear that Transparent has not only risen to the No. 1 series on Prime Instant Video, but that it's deemed 'binge worthy' as well. Given all this great feedback, it only makes sense to bring the Pfeffermans back next year in season two."

Transparent stars Jeffrey Tambor as Mort, a family patriarch struggling with how to tell his children (Gaby HoffmannAmy Landecker and Jay Duplass) that he's going to start living openly as a woman. From there, everyone's secrets start to come out as each family member spins in a different direction trying to figure out who they are going to become. The 10-episode series was written, directed and executive-produced by Emmy nominee and 2013 Sundance Best Director winner Jill Soloway.
