Teen siblings Walter and Nora Barlow are writing thank you letters to their Aunt Helen and Uncle Ross for a good time on their recent visit. While Walter had no problem writing his letter, Nora doesn't know what to say. Beyond formatting and presentation, Walter provides some assistance in going over some previous social letters they themselves have received, and Nora deciding what she likes or doesn't like about each in thinking about how it makes her feel if she was receiving it. Walter also gets her to think about what she would say in normal conversation. While thank you letters are only a subset of social letters, thank you letters themselves can differ in the reason for the letter and the nature of the recipient(s) to the letter writer. The main purpose is always the same in effective conveyance of the core message which usually contains specifics as opposed to generalities, thank you letter or other.
