This short documentary examines the effects of feral cat overpopulation on the local community of Washington, D.C. Growing numbers of homeless cats nationwide have led to the existence of outdoor cat colonies, many of which are fed by area residents. Feral cats' exponential reproduction has put pressure on local spay-neuter and adoption facilities, though the efficiency of current Trap-Neuter-Release programs, which aim to sterilize the cats, has been debated as a viable method of curbing population growth. Many drastically different solutions have been proposed, though all parties agree on one idea- feral cats should not exist. Whether we choose to protect or eliminate these animals humanely, it is first the responsibility of the pet owner to have cats spayed/neutered and kept indoors.
