Demonstrates to children how to settle disputes, conflicts which are fact of human nature when a group convenes. Friends Eddie, Jerry and Alice are our protagonists who mediate disputes or get into them themselves. They provide examples of three means of settling disputes and which may be the most effective for that given situation: compromise, obey the rules, and/or know the facts. The final example has Jerry and Eddie nominated by their class to be schoolyard representative. There are several reasons why each would make a good representative, but none of the previously mentioned means would work to decide who between the two should be chosen. A fourth means may work in this situation: get opinions, in this case in the form of an election where each class member gets a single, equal vote.
