After Sylvia Lafont's dance partner becomes ill a replacement is needed quickly in order to perform the famous Vampire Dance. An ad is placed and there is a huge response but Sylvia quickly chooses Oscar a handsome but very serious young man. Oscar falls passionately in love with Sylvia during rehearsals. Being happily engaged she rebuffs him and tells him to concentrate on the performance. Jealousy drives him to near madness and he makes a tragic decision.
