Clondalkin is the western district of Dublin with a bad rep. It is inhabited by so called socials - the families of workers who lost their jobs when the crisis came to Ireland and they were forced to go on welfare. You can still find the culture phenomenon known as urban cowboys - teenagers who keep wild horses illegally. Dylan is a 14-year-old Dubliner. This young boy, with looks that would be more in place on a cover of a magazine (handsome, blue-eyed with long lashes) is going trough a rough patch in his life. His mother died suddenly last May. Before she passed away, she gave the boy money to buy his first horse. Despite the tragedy, Dylan quickly buys his dream horse. He names a white, small mare Shelly. It's the name of his mother. The film 'Urban Cowboys' is a portrayal of a boy living in a big city, whose world is centered around an exceptional horse that - in a way - became a replacement for his lost mother.
