Amina (Faten Hamama) is a once-wealthy aristocratic woman whose life drastically changes after her divorce. She moves from a luxurious villa to a modest apartment, trying to raise her son and maintain her dignity in a society that stigmatizes divorced women. She becomes emotionally involved with Mohsen (Ezzat El Alaili), a married man who pretends to love her and promises marriage. However, she later realizes that he has no real intention of leaving his wife and is merely using her for comfort and convenience. Throughout the film, Amina is constantly judged and mistreated--not just by men who see her as an easy target, but also by society at large, including other women. The film portrays how divorced women are marginalized, devalued, and emotionally abused. As the relationship collapses and her illusions fade, Amina chooses her self-respect over compromise. She remains alone, but dignified--refusing to surrender to a world that sees her as disposable.
