In the Canadian Artic, a three-people team of researchers are attacked by Graboids while researching the iced area and only their remains are left. Dr. Rita Sims and Valerie Mckee invite Burt Gummer, who runs the Chang's Market in Perfection and has just had trouble with the IRS tax agent, to go to the Nunavut Territory to investigate what happened to the team. Burt's son Travis Welke travels with him by plane and soon they reach the research camp after an attack of an Ass Blaster. Burt suspects that DARPA is developing biochemical weapons using the Graboids. Soon the Ass Blaster attacks the compound and out of the blue, Burt faints. Dr. Rita Sims finds that Burt is infected by Graboid venom and his only chance to survive is capturing a Graboid alive and extract liquid from its gland. Now the group has two missions: kill two Graboids and capture one alive to save Burt.
