When Obi Okonkwo completes his studies in England and returns to Nigeria, he finds himself in a country marked by rapid industrialization and deep political change. Navigating romantic love and the expectations and disappointments of modern Nigeria, he experiences rampant corruption, the dominance of Europeans, and conflicts between modern and traditional values. Adapted from the novels Things Fall Apart (1958) and No Longer at Ease (1960)-two parts of Chinua Achebe's African Trilogy-this rarely seen and recently recovered feature film was produced by Nigerian filmmaker Francis Oladele and directed by Berlin-based filmmaker Hans Jürgen Pohland. First movie shot entirely in Nigeria.
