Set in São Paulo in the early 1980s, against the tense social backdrop of labor movements and the first years of political reopening in Brazil after the military dictatorship. Tião, a young factory worker, and his partner Maria learn that they are expecting a child and decide to get married, dreaming of a better life for their future baby. However, a strike breaks out at the factory where they work, dividing the working class and putting their principles to the test. Fearing that he may lose his job and jeopardize his family's future, Tião chooses not to join the strike. This decision causes a deep rift with his father Otávio, an uncompromising union activist and former political prisoner under the dictatorship, who leads the workers' struggle. The generational and ideological conflict between father and son, as well as the tension between personal aspirations and collective commitment, form the dramatic core of the film.
