Cicely Courtneidge plays multiple characters in this tale of love set against the music-hall scene. She plays the mother of one of a troupe of music-hall artistes whose own romance is doomed. But she also plays a younger member of the group whose love affair she, as the ‘mother’, helps to bring to fruition.
