The Vice-President

John Harvard, twenty years working at the same company, is currently in the middle management position of Branch Manager of Automotive Engineering. He is well respected by upper management and has a good rapport with those on his production team, with who he is on friendly social terms, he often playing golf with them. Upon a resignation by the incumbent due to health reasons, the Board of Directors offers John the position of Vice-President of Production, which John immediately and happily accepts in the promotion fitting within his own personal goals. The general feeling within the company is that the Board made the correct decision in John being a deserving candidate. While he anticipates many of the issues with this new position, most specifically the increased responsibility, John will find some challenges he didn't anticipate, including a new less socially friendly relationship with his subordinates, a greater overview of the company as a whole at the expense of finer details including the wants of individuals, and an overall sense of isolation in part due to having fewer people upon who he can confide his own issues with regard to the work.
