Is a retrospective of the films of the late French director Jacques Demy, lovingly curated by his widow Agnès Varda, a renowned film director in her own right. While he directed a variety of movie genres, he is arguably best known for his brightly colored musicals, in which all dialogue is sung, and/or stories which have a fantastical or fairy-tale quality. With the films presented in no particular order, Demy, Varda, their cast, crew and in some instances fans talk about their making and what it has meant in their lives. The retrospective also talks about some films in relation to others, such as how one gave him the ability to make another.
