Three years after the Civil War, battle-scarred Confederate veteran Ethan Edwards returns to his brother Aaron's remote Texan homestead. But instead of finding peace, the taciturn soldier finds tragedy when the murderous raiding party of ruthless Comanche Chief Scar massacres his family, burns the ranch to the ground, and abducts his 9-year-old niece, Debbie. Fearing the worst, Ethan and his young companion, Martin Pawley, embark on a dangerous 5-year odyssey to rescue the girl, fuelled by hatred and a thirst for vengeance. However, as the searchers ride through the unforgiving desert to track down their lost Debbie, they must confront their demons and answer an unvoiced question. Is the woman they seek still the same person they once knew?

Harry Carey Jr., a character actor who made in mark in a number of John Ford Westerns, has died, according to Variety. He was 91. Carey's daughter Melinda said the actor died natural causes Thursday at a hospice surrounded by family. "He went out as gracefully as he came in," she said.

Model Citizen Again Tops AFI's Best-films List

As revealed during Wednesday night's AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movies 10th Anniversary Edition special, Citizen Kane held onto the top spot on the 100-best-movies list, followed by The Godfather (up a notch from the 1998 countdown). Casablanca slipped from No. 2 to a third ranking. Among the pics making big leaps were John Wayne's The Searchers (from No. 96 to 12), Raging Bull (from No. 24 to 4), Vertigo (No. 61 to 9) and Charlie Chaplin's City Lights (No. 76 to 11).
