Film version of the popular radio show about the incompetent crew of a Royal Navy ship. On a forgotten naval base on an island off the coast of Britain, the men are having a high old time of it making loads of money from smuggling and other illicit activities. When a higher authority decides to close the unit, chaos reigns as everyone schemes to avoid being posted elsewhere.
