An account of the Presidio mutiny of 1968, in which twenty-seven prisoners participated in a sit-down strike at the stockade in Presidio, California. The protest was sparked by the death of a prisoner, overcrowding in the stockade, alleged mistreatment by guards, and set in motion when four AWOL soldiers participated in an anti-war march in San Francisco. During their morning formation, the twenty-seven men sat down and sang "We Shall Overcome" as their demands were read. The protest ended when military police removed the participants one at a time.
