Annie, 40, is driving her taxi to a construction site in the Paris suburbs that day. She expected to see her lover there, a mason who had just broken up with her. But he no longer works there and didn't leave an address. Desperate, Annie decides to do without a lover and party that same evening with a friend. At the time of the meeting, she sees an elegant woman looking in vain for a taxi. The woman's distress intrigues and moves her: Annie abandons the party and takes the stranger in her taxi. She, like Annie, is in the midst of emotional conflict and is trying to find out more about her husband's extramarital affair.
