When the author Erica Falck's parents die in a violent car accident, she is approached by a man who claims to be her half-brother. When he is found murdered a few days later, Erica begins to go through her mother's things. She soon discovers that her mother had dark secrets, which someone does everything to keep hidden. Erica is drawn further and further into a web of lies and vicious sudden death.
