A social climbing woman in a well furnished home has grown tired of her husband and has a well to do lover. She leaves her spouse (the breakup is shown by way of her removing her wedding band and handing it to him) only to find her new paramour a drunken oaf who stays out all night, leaving her to reflect on the trap she put herself into, the closing scene showing her superimposed in a bird cage.
